That Home Theater Dude
For Chris Mata, his passion for home theater began with the excitement of a movie coming to life. As a child, he arranged speakers around the family couch to watch Star Wars. That early fascination with sound grew into a lasting pursuit of a more immersive experience at home.
Known online as That Home Theater Dude, Chris began sharing what he learned through equipment reviews, theater tours, and practical setup advice. He remembered how overwhelming the technology could feel when starting out and wanted to help others understand what makes a system perform.
His work has also taken him into the wider home theater industry. In 2022, Hisense named Chris among the collaborators bringing its CEDIA Expo theater demonstration to life, alongside specialists in speakers, processing, and movie playback.
Today, as the owner of Lux AV, Chris brings that enthusiasm to a clear ambition: delivering high-end results that clients can see, hear, and enjoy. The focus is on the complete experience: thoughtful system design, careful installation, calibration, and technology that feels comfortable to use.
Dedicated home theaters remain the specialty, with the same attention extending to media rooms, whole-home audio and video, automation, and outdoor entertainment throughout Houston and surrounding communities.
